Up to ten checks a good floor manager would make, scored out of 100.
The short guide
Six habits of replies that read well.
1
Thank them, even for the hard ones
They took time to write. A plain thanks at the start sets a calm tone for everyone else reading.
2
Mention what they mentioned
Name the dish, the stylist, the room. It's the quickest proof a person read the review.
3
Say sorry for the specific thing
“Sorry the carbonara came out lukewarm” beats “sorry for any inconvenience” every time.
4
Take the details offline
Give a name and a way to reach you. Public back-and-forth rarely ends well.
5
No freebies in public
Offering a discount in a reply invites copycats. Sort out goodwill privately.
6
Keep it short, in their language
Two to four sentences, in the language the guest wrote in.
Questions
About the check.
How is the score worked out?
Up to ten checks: length, stock phrases, whether it echoes details from the review, thanks, an apology and an offline contact for unhappy reviews (or an invitation back for happy ones), calm wording, no public freebies, volume, and language match. Each has a weight; the score is the share of points earned. The weights are our editorial judgement, not a Google ranking factor.
Is my reply sent anywhere?
No, the score is calculated in your browser. Only if you click Get a second opinion are the reply, review and stars sent to our server and OpenAI to write three tips. We don't store them.
Does replying to reviews help my Google ranking?
Google's own help pages encourage owners to reply to reviews. We don't know of any public evidence that a particular reply style changes ranking, so we don't claim it does.
Does it work for Japanese replies?
Yes, the checks understand Japanese apologies, thanks and invitations, and flag replies in a different language from the review.
