Example replies to salon reviews on Google

Salon reviews are personal: a stylist's name, a colour, an appointment that ran late. These made-up examples show how to reply warmly and protect your client's privacy. Change the details before you post.

These are examples, not templates. The reviews are made up. Change names, dishes and details to match what really happened before you post anything. Want one written for your actual review? Try the free reply generator.

Tone

A few habits before the examples.

  • Credit the stylist by name when the client does.
  • Never discuss treatments, prices or personal details beyond what the client wrote.
  • For an unhappy result, offer to talk privately and fix it. Don't debate in public.
  • Keep it calm and short.

5, 3 and 1 star

Salons: reviews and replies.

  1. 5-starLoves the colour

    Review (example)

Aiko did my balayage and it's exactly what I wanted. She really listened.

    Example reply

Aiko will be so pleased to read this. Thank you! Listening first is how she works, and it's lovely that it came through. Enjoy the new colour.

Why it works: Credits the stylist, echoes what they valued, adds nothing private.

  2. 5-starFirst visit

    Review (example)

First time here, nervous about a big cut. Came out feeling great.

    Example reply

Thank you for trusting us with a big change on your first visit! So glad you left feeling great. We'll be here whenever you're ready for the next one.

Why it works: Acknowledges the nerves without making a fuss.

  3. 3-starRunning late

    Review (example)

Happy with my cut but I waited 30 minutes past my appointment time.

    Example reply

Thanks for your patience, and I'm glad you're happy with the cut. Half an hour is too long to wait, especially when you've booked. We're building more buffer between long colour appointments so it doesn't happen again.

Why it works: Owns the wait, gives a reason that's also a fix.

  4. 3-starNot quite what they asked for

    Review (example)

Nice salon but the fringe is shorter than I asked for.

    Example reply

Thank you for telling us. A fringe that's shorter than you wanted is frustrating. Please give us a call at [phone] and we'll book you in to tidy it up and make sure it grows out well.

Why it works: Offers a practical next step privately, no argument about who said what.

  5. 1-starUnhappy with the result

    Review (example)

Paid a lot for highlights and they came out brassy. Really upset.

    Example reply

I'm so sorry your highlights didn't turn out how you wanted. I'd really like to put it right. Please contact me directly at [phone or email] and we'll find a time that suits you.

Why it works: Apologises, doesn't mention price or blame, moves to a private fix.

  6. 1-starNo-show policy dispute

    Review (example)

Charged a fee for cancelling because I was sick. Terrible customer service.

    Example reply

I'm sorry you were unwell, and that the fee felt unfair. I'd like to look at your booking with you personally. Please reach me at [email] so we can talk it through.

Why it works: Shows care without restating the policy in public or getting into the money.

Questions

About replying.

Can I mention the treatment in my reply?
Only what the client already wrote. Don't add details about treatments, skin, health or prices; reviews are public.
What if a review is from someone who never visited?
Reply briefly and politely that you can't find their visit and invite them to contact you. You can also flag reviews that break Google's policies.
